Mississippi School Boards Association
The Company
The Mississippi School Boards Association (MSBA) is a professional, nonprofit organization that represents all public school districts in the State of Mississippi.
Building a Foundation of Trust
In 2007, the MSBA Workers’ Compensation Trust partnered with CorVel. Their goal was to connect employees with care quickly while returning savings back to the school districts through efficient workers’ compensation claims management.
Successful results quickly built a foundation of trust for the partnership – one that would continue to grow rapidly over the years.
Next Level Savings
In an effort to improve their results and the care provided to their employees, MSBA added CorVel’s Advocacy 24/7 to their program in 2016. Immediate intervention provided prompt access to care and reduced costly delays in the claims process. Within just one year of implementation, MSBA’s claims mix saw a major shift. The percentage of medical-only claims increased while the percentage of lost time claims and the lag time significantly decreased.
CorVel has changed the landscape of their claims by keeping more claims as medical only, enabling employees to return to work faster, sometimes the same day. This leads to fewer costs for the employer – a solution that has led to major savings and success for MSBA.
CorVel’s fully integrated model impacts the total cost of risk. In addition to reducing the percentage of lost time claims, MSBA has experienced an increase in first fills and greater utilization of the PBM, resulting in increased pharmacy savings of 37% since 2013.
A Prized Partnership
A legacy for success comes with a partnership built on trust. This has proven to be true for MSBA and CorVel as they continue to take success to new heights.
